THE SAM S. BLOOM FOUNDATION SUPPORTS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS, QUALIFIED UNDER THE IRS CODE SECTION501(C)(3), WHICH SERVE FINANCIALLY DISADVANTAGED RESIDENTS OF THE STATE OF COLORADO.  THE FOUNDATION OFFERS GRANTS FOR PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE AN ARRAY OF SERVICES AIMED AT BRINGING SELF-SUFFICIENCY TO MEMBERS OF HIGHLY MOTIVATED AT-RISK POPULATIONS.  THE FOUNDATION WELCOMES APPLICATIONS FOR PROGRAMS PROVIDING A VARIETY OF SERVICES TO FAMILY UNITS WITH INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN.  THE FOUNDATION DOES NOT FUND PROGRAMS FOR RESEARCH, HEALTH CARE, THE ELDERLY, RELIGIOUS PURPOSES, ANIMAL WELFARE, ENDOWMENTS, FOODS BANKS, THOSE THAT ARE PRIMARILY RECREATIONAL, OR PROGRAMS THAT DISCRIMINATE.

Values Statement

The Foundation prioritizes the funding of organizations demonstrating excellence and
integrity in leadership, operations, and community impact. As a funder, the
Foundation believes in open and responsive communication with applicant
organizations and current grantees. We assist Colorado-based nonprofits assisting
women, children and families throughout Colorado including rural and urban
communities.
We encourage grantees to create and maintain a diverse, equitable, and inclusive
environment welcoming a range of community members in the scope of their
mission. The Foundation itself values diversity within our Board of Directors and
during any hiring activities that might take place. The Sam S. Bloom Foundation does

THE FOUNDATION TRADITIONALLY PROVIDES GENERAL OPERATING AND PROGRAM SUPPORT IN AREAS OF INTEREST

Early childhood and preschool education and development programs

Parenting education and programs aimed primarily at enhancing the parent child interaction

Job readiness and life skills training for families and heads of households transitioning from welfare to self-sufficiency

Motivated Families Inititiave Grant Program (MFIGP) 

Motivated Families Grant Program (MFGP)
Within the grant making programs of the foundation is a specific initiative known as the Motivated
Families Grant Program. MFGP provides support for organizations that offer a comprehensive package
of services designed to support clients in achieving long-term sustainable self-sufficiency. The target
population is highly-motivated family units with children, as well as single parents with children. Since launching this invitation only initiative in 2006, the foundation has awarded nearly $2 million dollars in grants to the MFGP
Currently five organizations are included in the MFGP.

  • Beyond Home (Colorado Homeless Families) serving Metro Denver

  • Florence Crittenton of Colorado serving Metro Denver

  • La Puente Home serving the San Luis Valley

  • Project Self-Sufficiency of Loveland-Fort Collins serving Larimer County

  • The Pinon Project Family Resource Center serving Montezuma and Dolores Counties
